Save Our Studios Opens

Our new Exhibition at the Museum is now open. Please come and visit us and find out all about the 8 year campaign to Save Elstree Studios from closure. How a dedicated band of film fans and local volunteers struggled against all the odds to keep the studios open. And now they are thriving and creating films and TV from The Crown to Strictly Come Dancing.

And if you have any items of film history you'd like to display in this exhibition, we need your help! Contact us via this website or our Facebook page.

The new Exhibition is taking shape with a few days to go.  And our new display cabinet is now in place, along with some exhibits:

SOS WIP 3 - In which Maureen gets pasting

We’re down to the nitty-gritty now as our wallpapering expert, Maureen, gets pasting the starry paper for our new Exhibition, SOS.  And at the same time our new poster arrives from John.  Can’t wait – only a week to go!

SOS WIP 1 – In which we start the process again

The crew are back in the Museum, trying to beat the deadline of the 23^rd, and create a new Exhibition all about the saving of Elstree Studios in the 90s.  Makes you wonder why they don’t just get on with it, instead of mucking about!

Two New Competitions

Celebrating the 150 Years of our local Railway, we have two new competitions for youngsters visiting the Exhibition.  This is now closing in two weeks time, so you’d better hurry!  With great prizes on offer, under-12s can have a go at the Drawing Competition, while the Quiz is open to all. Also lookout for the competition question panels up and down Shenley Road.

More Dressing Up

School holidays, so we’ve been playing with the uniforms. Lots of families coming in with very enthusiastic and lovely children. You’re never too old to dress up, or pull the chain to listen to the hooter!!

New Station Master

We got the children's outfits in and unpacked, and found our first willing model who adores trains. Doesn't he make a very good Station Master?

With the arrival of our Railway Costumes, our young visitors are getting into the mood of our current Exhibition, All Change!  Even Museum Manager, Dave, is getting his bacon & egg ready for the fire box as the train thunders through Elstree & Boreham Wood!
