Our History

Great Brookmead School

1970 to 1995 - see also Greenacres School

Allerton Road, Boreham Wood

The building was originally Greenacres Infants School which opened in 1956. In 1969 the pupils were transferred to Parkside School and the school was converted to take children in a wide age range with educational special needs and learning difficulties.

In 1979 the actor Martin Shaw opened the May Fayre together with Francoise Pascall and George Camiller.  At this time the headteacher was A Leach and the caretaker J Kettley.

The school was closed in 1992 and the pupils sent elsewhere.  It was subsequently demolished in 1995 and the site was rebuilt as a nursing home, The Meads, Carlton Close.
