Campions House Further Education Annexe

1960 to mid-1970s - became Elstree Screen Arts Academy

Green Street, Boreham Wood

Campions House and New Annexe

This was originally a Victorian house that had two new classrooms built in the grounds.  It was the first Further Education facility in Boreham Wood and provided education for day-release and evening class students.  Prior to this the house had been used as an overflow school for infants and juniors.  The annexe was built on a temporary basis until the new and permanent college was built in Elstree Way a few years later.  During these years the house was also used as a club for the local teenagers who painted and decorated the basement walls with murals.  The house was demolished in 1980 and the land used for housing development.

The history of Further Education in Boreham Wood is not included in this Exhibition which covers education up to eighteen years.  For more details see Elstree Screen Arts Academy which does cater for fourteen to eighteen years although its predeccessor colleges (South Herts College of Further Education, De Havilland College, Elstree University Technical College) did not do this.
