Alban Crescent Boreham Wood
Officially opened as Woodlands Infant School in July 1956 by Mr F N Godfrey MA. The school shared a site with Cowley Hill School. There were eight classrooms, an assembly hall and a dining room. The headteacher was Miss K N Baker until 1968 when Mrs J Postlethwaite took over the post until 1973. 1974 to 1977 Mrs J Farmer, 1977 to 1992 Mrs L Janovic, 1993 Mrs Linda Forbes.
John Cooper, headteacher at Monksmead School in 2001, relates that in the 1960s a teacher named Miss Baker died whist she was walking in heavy snow to the school from her home in Shenley. In 1963 Mrs Castle transferred to the school from Saffron Green Primary School.
School outing in the 1970s
A playgroup was established in 1970 and a nursery in 1994. In 1974 when the education system in Boreham Wood changed from two- to three-tier it became a First School taking children to the age of nine years.four themes: meadow, wet, tree and ditch.
A mural which spanned the top of the stage in 1999 was a self portrait of every child in the school. In the playground there was a red bench called a ‘friendship bench’. The purpose of it was to encourage care among the children. If a pupil, or anyone for that matter, were to sit on the bench alone, a child would come to keep the other company and be a friend.

In 2000 to celebrate and commemorate the turn of the century, the children made a patchwork tapestry of events selected from the last millennium. They also took part in a Great Balloon Race, initiated by the Parent Teacher’s Association, in which 5000 balloons were released into the air. Each had a label asking the finder to return it to the school so that it could monitor the balloons’ routes. The farthest landed 1200 miles away in Algeria. The nearest in a neighbouring garden a few yards away.
In 2000 Herts County decided to change all their schools in Boreham Wood back to a two-tier system and Woodlands became a primary again taking children from four to eleven. The school logo comprised three stylized trees on top of a 'W' contained within a shield. In 2001 there were 275 children on the roll which included thirty-six in the nursery and twenty-five in the playgroup.
The Headteacher in 2024 is Miss R Woode
