Theobald Street Boreham Wood
This school was a combination of Brookfield Infants School and Merydene Junior Mixed School which were joined physically when constructed in 1953. The new name was chosen by the headteacher of Merydene, Mrs E McCleod and the chair of governors for Brookfield, Mrs N Triance J.P. . The log books for both schools stated that the amalgamation had come about because the headmaster of Brookfield, Mr Slatter, had taken up a new appointment at Fairview School, Radlett. However, as all the schools in Borehamwood changed their education to a three-tier system in 1974 when Meryfield became a First School, it can be presumed that this added weight to the amalgamation.

In 1998-9 there were 293 children in the main school and sixty-eight in the nursery. The daily timetable was from 9.00 am to 3.15 pm with an hour for lunch between 12.10 pm to 1.10 pm.
When did Jimmy Tarbuck visit the school?
The school shared a site with Lyndhurst School. In 2000 the Boreham Wood schools were reverted to a two-tier system and Meryfield received Primary school status. New extensions comprising of four extra classrooms were built to accommodate extra children up to the age of eleven with nursery provision for sixty children.
Mrs Gage is the current Headteacher.
