Museum Friends Evening Full Of Shenley And Films
Thursday 25 May 2017
The Friends of the Museum met last night for a social evening with wine and nibbles. First Dave Armitage gave his talk on Life in Shenley in the 1900s complete with photos of the area from the time. Many comments came from the Friends along the way, and we learnt much about the village at the turn of the century, from the big houses in the area to the WW1 airfield, from the White Horse pub to the Cage. Fascinating stuff.
And after our quick libation and crisps, we were involved in a fiendish film quiz set and delivered by Tevi Corman. Entitled Made In Elstree we answered questions on many of the films that came from this area, their stars and their careers. Somehow Dennis Waterman came into questions on the 1930s but we’ll let that pass. The winner was awarded a large jar of honey & lemon menthol sweets, so many of us were relieved our answers were wrong!
