Going Down The Village For Our Music
Friday 7 April 2017
April’s Reminiscence Meeting was led by a presentation from Simon Gee about the Sixties music scene in Boreham Wood and the local area. After spending many hours trolling through the Boreham Wood Post, Simon had gathered together all the relevant articles about the venues and musicians who set the scene in that fascinating decade in musical history. Music clips introduced most slides of the presentation – everything from the Kinks to The Who via Eric Clapton, and local bands such as The Zephyrs and The Max. The Lynx Club was a special feature of the talk, and many of the future stars who learnt their trade round the clubs had played in Boreham Wood. Afterwards the discussion focussed on where everyone had bought their singles and LPs, and which group was their first ever show. Even Muffin The Mule got into the chat!
